I am done for today and this week. Market is all the way choppy with narrow consolidation. I don't have a skill to trade under this lousy condition. Perhaps gold is not very good asset to trade for the time being?
I had mostly losing trades but PnL is still positive due to one mistake trade which ended up positive (I accidentally traded normal sized gold instead of micro).

Hi Justin,
The first chart is GOLD from the 17th July, the second is today.
Today's Volatility is Huge in Comparison and not so easy to Trade without using much Bigger Stops and Targets

In retrospect, it was obvious it was making a narrowing pennant pattern and a breakout was imminent. However, market was wild and I was already fed up with this PA by that time and just walked away. I had to focus on A+ setups with patience. Perhaps, lowering leverage could help in a day like this. Basically, general direction I selected was correct. Doing some postmortem study....

How did I do that? When you follow EMA rainbow (the range is your choice) or Guppy, you're generally in the right direction. Also, CCI slingshot pattern could be an odd enhencer upon EMA contraction. The question is always 'timing'..... I am trying to find a key to the timing in PA reading skill......

Believe or not another mistake trade gave me a windfall on early Monday trading. I almost sold two normal contracts by mistake! When I juggle between normal and micro contracts, it's quite confusing time to time. I should be more careful next time.

When EMA is contracted, that's easier to trade. Your SL is smaller and your potential target is bigger. Under the orange colored box in the picture below, momentum is getting weaker and as a result, your SL becomes bigger and your potential target becomes smaller. That's the place not recommended to trade for amateurs like me.

What I found when I use this indicator, forex or CFD charts are quite slow while futures charts are generally acceptable. Even if I limit the max number of candles to only 2K, it's still very slow. Perhaps, that's because of tick volume vs. real futures volume. My forex broker is IC Markets and I guess their tick data volume is very high... Just for your information.

This was a high provability setup in hindsight as far as I see. Breakout from a narrowing pennant pattern. I was eating dinner and missed it. Also, I wasn't really motivated to trade further as I already made a decent profit (by mistake) this morning.

I think I have to close the day with one more stupid trade. I hoped the market squeezed some more momentum while it's way oversold condition.... It was just nothing more than a gambling and I lost this trade. Good thing was I used only one micro contract considering the volatility and it limited my loss. Market is not very interesting now and I better walk away before I add up more losses.

In retrospect, my expectation was the market would quickly take out stops located underneath the huge pin bar made in early Asian session. Sometimes it really works as you can often see from trades by Senja. However, momentum wasn't there and it retreated back to the demand zone above. Again, general direction was correct but timing was incorrect.... My experience says selling at oversold condition (or buying at overbought condition) is nearly a gambling. Better avoid it at least for amateurs like me.

Hi Justin,
I have found the most Profitale thing to do is to find a Repeatable Process.
Take the SAME SETUP Time after Time
Trading is a Numbers Game and having a good idea of what to Expect Day to Day
Don't Focus on Individual Trades
Personally, I find it more Profitable to Limit myself to ONE or, at most, TWO Trades a DAY.
By doing this I LIMIT my DOWNSIDE to a MAXIMUM of (-2%), of my Account, a DAY
I KNOW then, what ever happens, I won't BLOW UP because of a BAD DAY
I, also, KNOW it's a lot easier to SAY THIS than Actually DO IT
But it's a VERY GOOD PLACE to be STARTING FROM
The main thing is FINDING that REPEATABLE PROCESS that will PRODUCE PROFITS LONG TERM
For me it's to keep Repeating what I see in the Chart Below
