Most of the cooking oil imports into the US from China have been UCO, used cooking oil. This has been imported mostly to make biodiesel. There have been several State and Federal tax credits for imported biofuels, but the Federal tax credit was nixed under Trump 2.0, leading to a sharp reduction in UCO imports. Trump's idea (?) about cooking oil is not really in touch with the huge problem of US soybean farmers losing the Chinese market.
