US Monthly New Residential Sales, August 2025
The U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development jointly announced the following new residential sales statistics for August 2025. Sales of new single-family houses in August 2025 were at a seasonally-adjusted annual rate of 800,000, according to estimates released jointly today by the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. This is 20.5 percent (±21.8 percent)* above the July 2025 rate of 664,000, and is 15.4 percent (±25.1 percent)* above the August 2024 rate of 693,000. US new home sales surge by 20.5% in August
Sales of new single-family houses in the United States stood at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 800,000 in August, marking the highest number since January 2022, the country's Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development said in their report published on Wednesday. Compared to July’s, the figure surged by 20.5%. Year-on-year, it rose by 15.4%. The median sales price of new houses sold reached $413,500, and the average sales price $534,100. The seasonally-adjusted estimate of new houses for sale was 490,000, a supply of 7.4 months at the current sales rate.
