It’s amazing how the market can suppress geopolitical upheaval, tariffs , war , probably even a direct strike from an asteroid when it suits the agenda . It somehow even makes you question the macro view and the end game .

The elephant in the room which no one wants to address however is the spiralling debt . How this plays out and when will be a bestseller .

Yet France is in disarray and has no way of implementing the fiscal reforms required for elementary budget stability .

Lagarde is literally the mouthpiece for institutions , and as per Oxbucks narrative , she has little to no time for the serfs . Under the Draghi “ put “ the ECB was no different to the Fed re: printing and devaluation.

The entire speech was essentially a call for a more unified, powerful, and independent Europe that can "belong to oneself" in a world of competing "systems powers" (i.e. US and China). She talked about the need for Europe to pool resources in defence, technology (Chips Act etc), and energy to reduce its dependencies.

A more politically and fiscally integrated Europe is a fundamentally stronger Europe. A stronger, more cohesive economic bloc warrants a stronger currency. This speech outlines the political ambition that would be required to justify a structural re-rating of the Eurozone higher over the long term.

Her speech begins by celebrating the "independence of thought" of institutions. This is a subtle but clear defense of the ECB's own institutional independence, drawing an implicit contrast with the political pressures currently being exerted on the Fed in the US. It reinforces the image of the ECB as a stable, rules-based institution, again vs. the ever politicised Fed (for whom a new appointee is expected tonight).
