It's only FF I didn't see the revision on the calendar but I saw it both on myfxbook and financialjuice since Sunday/Monday. The thing is honestly the markets reaction even with this is still pretty subdued we still get the inflation data tomorrow so I'm not sure if markets are starting to look towards that for more guidance. Let's see if inflation made a noticeable uptick tomorrow.

One of the reasons the market shrugs off bad news while the market is up is all based on information in this old book of wisdom. While MacKay didn't have the credentials of a prominent psychiatrist we all need today to believe someone, his written words have not failed.

Herd mentality (we refer to this as the trend)...once the herd is on board and believes it, the course is set, logic be damned. Rationality is replaced by imitation so if everyone's doing it, it must be right. See, in a crowd, people are not accountable even when the crowd is unwise. Their individual judgment is replaced by a collective emotional manipulation of both fear and greed AND the fear of missing out.

This current market is riding at an all time high overall and is based on optimism with the new policies of the current political regime. Short sellers similar to Jesse Livermore would have a keen eye on failed daily highs while the crowd will just brush aside any negative news, proclaiming "It will be different this time!" But it won't because the entire market is based on the psychological foundations of greed and fear. Rest assured, at some point macro economic fundamentals will override senseless emotions but it takes a very long time.

Pro tip for major market reversals: divergences on Daily and Weekly (preferred) timeframes.

The revisions happen every year. Typical revisions are around 0.3% of the total payroll, up or down. This big one is about 0.6%. It doesn't matter who is POTUS.

The BLS has been asking for years for increased budget that would allow them to do better data collection. The Heritage Foundation clone that Trump wants to be the new head of the BLS has argued that they should stop issuing the payroll data.

Wouldn't that be swell? Then, everyone could just believe whatever King Trump says about the job market. Which, as the data show, is dead.

Yeah, this was a rather large one not to be on the calendar...but, obviously, the markets didn't move in a crazy fashion right out of the gate. It will offer a little shakiness in an already shaky week though. Any time the expected move is so small, you can either take the "buy every dip/sell every rip" mentality and scalp like crazy.....OR.....be ready and waiting for some unforeseen reaction to one of the news items. "sitting on hands" is going to be the best play for most traders who aren't able to finance/mentally handle the swings.

Buckle up though, because by next Friday, markets will NOT be where they are right now.

What I mean is that there has not been a significant move on the number's release. If you look back at impactful numbers, you can see immediate (less than 30 seconds) moves of 1%+ in equity markets. This number, while it looks huge on paper, caused an 9.25 point range in the S&P 1-min bar (rising before closing lower in that bar). And, is currently higher than the open of that bar as I type this. So, not much reaction.

Gold, however, did see a bit of a move. Spiked higher and is now pulling back (that rose and then fell nearly 1% since the number). Silver got hit too.

Too many people are refreshing the CME fed watch tool, but I am guessing that the data ticked up the 50bps odds a little as the labor market weakness continues to be front and center.

There is no straightforward method to interpret this. The market will tell you what it thinks of it. Initial reaction in yields was down and USD down, followed by a reversal for both. You can interpret this as "priced in", so the numbers themselves didn't elicit a strong reaction in either direction. That's the initial algo move, anyway. Humans will now digest this throughout the day and then the actual interpretation by the market will become evident.

Not everybody trades the Daily chart, sure it's wise to consider it in your overall evaluation but most traders place trades on the ltf for more precise entries unless you don't mind trading tiny lot sizes with stops of hundreds of pips, in which case why bother trading at all. Cheers!
