Tariffs are gone be used as political pressure tool to get what Trump wants.

But the EU has no money or tools to do that. Declared one day after the "agreement".
Not one single binding agreement with any country. All non binding frameworks which will give a lot of discussion later down the road.

i don't think they want to join the BRICS, the BRICS were created exactly as a counterbalance to the G7 where Canada holds a place. But i would bet money that if things stay like this, it's only natural that Canada would try to have closer commercial ties with China, Brazil, India. Not Russia or Iran for obvious reasons.
It's more than a choice, it comes as a necessity. The unintended consequences of weaponising trade.

Tariffs are the perfect tool to wield as a cudgel against other Western powers because you know how they'll respond based on game theory which the economists advising governments dogmatically follow - most will not respond in kind due to the fear of 'racing to the bottom' resulting in -10/-10 for all players.
