I don't call them "attractors." I've come to refer to these levels as "pivotal points," or simply as "pivots."

I do not use the floor trader pivots as TT does. I also do not use the monthly levels as I believe TT does, nor the quarterly nor the yearly. However, I'd not deny the significance of those longer-term levels as well.

I'll leave the defense of the floor trader levels to TT and others who use them. But as to the levels taken from the daily and weekly chart and then superimposed over whatever intraday interval one is using it is undeniable that these levels are objective and are used by those who trade in size large enough to change the direction the market is moving.

I posted this over in the PriceBob systems thread ,,, But wanted to repost more details here...
so as to give credit where credit is due to the author.

Hi Merka,
When the day begins I only have a set of prices (lines) that I might be interested in as the day progresses.
Again, I am only interested in what other traders and the larger market do first.
In essence I have NO way or NO method as such to follow (ie I am a discretionary trader, based on where OTHER traders become interested & attracted themselves)

The day began with the right of the chart essentially empty of candles, just attractor lines up & down the chart and above & below where price was at.

During the day prices move to & from and AROUND such attraction lines I notice (and have done so, for the past 3-4 years I have been observing)
Let the market make the first move is my motto I guess.
When liquidity enters new or disappears (TP or SL) at an attractor or elsewhere then the market will react. Then we as traders can also react (with care lol)

Here's the mid of the day progress UPDATE on that same USDJPY chart
(myself I trade GJ but this reference is to the chart at the UJ start of the day until NOW)

Now I understood how your lines are calculated and you trade them subjectively.
Can you please show how effectively you trade them for example making a live call (before after the fact) for Monday on your favorite pair?
Doesn't matter if it will be a win/loss.
The important is your live analysis on why you entered before the fact.

He won't do that, because his entries are based on what's happening in real time around those levels.
So he reacts instead of predicting.

Hi Merka,

I’m a discretionary (subjective) trader working with and around (objective) data.

As mentioned I have no set plan. I trade when the market gets itself at or around an attractor point (of price).

It can’t be coded.
I’ve had quants tell me it could be coded as everything in the end for them is numerical.

But they can’t code “spur of the moment opportunity” because those operational variables of subjectivity cannot be referenced due to the potential almost infinite possibilities.

(I’m also a programmer and I can’t code it for myself, so no chance anybody else).
(I've also had close mates such as Andy sit with me watching charts live on the old skype ages ago and he will say in the end he doesn;t really get me or my way)

Why not yourself just code (if that's what you wish) the maths of expansions & contractions using deviations that work best for you. For example I have a separate template with some multiples of parisboys envelopes that he showed very early in his thread (I assume RIP but still hope not) that isolate areas of interest also for me and work well as confluences with the target attractors.

Else just fire up a trade simulator with all the attractor indis that I have uploaded on here prior and spend some time going back over (past history) days.
And see what you can see & might do as a trade.

(2nd chart is the ONE hour from Dove's Paradox thread where he uses the TWO hour chart - period convertor for mt4 is below the charts)


In essence I believe there is no ONE way to trade, or one way which is BEST.
The market view is really OUR view (market just does what it does daily)
And so (again imho) the END result of your own trading will be YOU

Well, same mechanics repeated (imo)
and (without being cocky, just realistic is all )
was somewhat logical to trade, between the attractors (over & over)
