If Trump believes rates should be lower, let him tell us why. He won't because he can't. He doesn't know how the monetary system is supposed to work. If the economy is doing so great, why lower interest rates UNLESS he wants inflation to brew up more. Has nobody sat him down and drawn him a picture with crayons explaining this? And Bessent should know better than to attack Powell on this point. He and Trump need to stay in their lanes.

He has no concept of embedded inflation or the economics behind the equation . He’s not interested, everything is a monologue and is defined as “ black or white “ .

2.7 is 35% over their target if 2, the Fed has failed in spectacular ways since helicopter Benny. If I was off in my job by 35% I’m pretty sure that would not be good lol.

As I’ve said before, things could turn out badly, or just fine, no one knows yet. No permabear on this site will state a time frame, not a single one of you. Preaching the end of the US everyday, day after day gets old when you can’t provide timing. I know I and my family will be fine regardless of what happens. Not much else I can do. I was wildly bullish and calling for new highs in stocks many hundreds of points ago. As of the 4th I posted I’m no longer, and waiting for the markets to tell me what’s next.

But I do not like what bonds are doing today.

The federal reserve does not control interest rates. The federal funds rate lags the 2 year market rate by 2-4 months. Interest rates are set at treasury auctions. Trump has no clue how interest rates or the economy works.
