the volume bars don't exclusively need to cross the signal line for it to be valid but understanding the context of the market is what helps to make better decisions.

Lets pretend monday is going to be a clear bullish day and there is an old high sticks out like a sore thumb that price will be drawn to on the H1 (I'll mark it with a horizontal line.

 

  1. I will also mark out lows from the asian session and further down as I want to see reactions.
  2. At london open I would be looking for price to purge the recent lows before turning bullish for the rest of the day.
  3. I will start looking for buys when the M1 has started to turn bullish and the EMA's flip.
  4. After that, any entries I open with nova I know will have a good possibility of hitting the H1 high I am targetting... especially if I manage to get into the trend early.
  5. Along the way to the H1 high, there will be lots of winning nova signals and there will be some losses if there are pullbacks. Gaining 10R lets say before the first pullback is not a bad thing and I won't be bothered... I'll just wait for price to re-align again.

What I am trying to say is that by understanding the context of the market, you can know when to take entries. If price is ranging on the HTF then its always a good idea to wait for a break of the range (bullish or bearish) and align with it on the LTF.

I don't want to come across as rude or anything but theres plenty of pages on here to study and get information so if new people are going to ask what timeframe to use then you're in the wrong place and not ready.

10R overall - thats good for supposedly dead asia hours. There were more entries that would have lost but price was at support so it wouldn't make sense to add.

Good work bud - glad you're picking it up!

I've not done anything so far during london as price has been stuck in the london open range all day so far.

My plan is wait for range to breakout before anything.

Also, there will be more disliked comments going forward on here to keep it clean. It's okay to ask questions but if people can't at least read the first couple of pages then I don't know what else to do really

And there we go... not a fan of the price being within the london open range BUT for this it hit the main things I like to see. There a nice shift in structure, moving averages flipped & price retraced into the EMA's... nova signal... so why not?

Notice how 2R hits and it instantly pulls back... interesting stuff but its still in the london open range so got to be cautious.

If price doesnt break this high then it could purge it and then reverse but we'll see

There is another trade here but this is not one I like to trade and I've mentioned this before.

When price blasts off so fast and volume is instant I don't like those entries because quite often its to grab liquidity and then it'll reverse.

It did actually grab liquidity before that move after it pierced into the pullback low but we'll see.

I wouldn't have entered this but I've marked it to see what happens. It's too big of a stop and for me I would like to see price break the green line and then retest if it's going to stay bullish and the red line at the bottom if its to be bearish. This is without using the HTF.

Okay so there was a definite 4R and possible 6R+ here if those entries were all taken but again, I wouldn't have taken them all with price being so close to the high.

The last one could have hit almost 6R in 1 trade though if you were still in it.

Nova definitely works. However , you only need to avoid when price is in range as there would plenty of stop losses. If any body is aware regarding identification of consolidations or any indicator / or something else , do let me know plz.
in trendy scenario , nova generates very good results.

If price can't break a recent high or low then you're in a developing range.

You then start looking for the opposite side to be broken and if it can't break that either then there is no direction and again... Range.

Once you understand this you'll eliminate losses from trading inside a range.

This is why moving average flipping entries and price pulling back to them works well even inside a range but i do prefer entries after the range has been broken out of.

Even if you do enter a nova signal inside the range then at least target the high or low of the range or don't trade at all.

If you manage 20R from a trend and then lose 2R inside a range you still come out with 18R.

Losses are the cost of business in trading... Just like overheads managing a business.

Our job is to stay in as many trends as possible. It's that simple.

So theres already at least 10R there from this trend and a possible (3rd trade could have been a 5.6R+ with same target as 2nd trade)

The last 2 entries are still waiting and they'll be break even at most!

So again, if you follow the flow with Nova... losses are meaningless
