    The House on Thursday passed President Donald Trump’s massive tax-and-spending bill, delivering him a major political victory and teeing him up to enshrine much of his sweeping domestic agenda into law. The final vote was 218-214, with two Republicans — Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Pennsylvania’s Brian Fitzpatrick — voting against it alongside all of the chamber’s Democrats. The legislation, which Trump has dubbed the “One Big, Beautiful Bill,” contains trillions of dollars in tax cuts and beefed-up immigration enforcement spending and is offset by significant cuts to Medicaid and other programs. ... It’s a pandemic across Europe and not unique to the US . Whole generations brought up on the benefit culture, we even have health tourists coming in taking advantage of the NHS and then depart, out of the country . Not a penny paid !

Add to that the massive immigration numbers to the benefit system ( most immigrants want to work though , unlike a lot of the generational benefits culture families) . It’s a massive drawdown on the public purse, hence the debacle yesterday of the UK climb down on benefit cuts . No government can or wants to address it, as these are potential voters .

Having said all that :Healthcare in this day and age should be unconditional , it’s a prerequisite to a decent society. I noted the shooting of executive:

They had to do something to keep taxes where they are, in order to do that they felt they had to throw in a lot of crap to get the votes. So while I definitely disagree with parts of the bill, I’m glad it’s over and done with, I’m tired of hearing about it.

I’d like to get back to things that matter, the economy, finishing tariff deals, corporate earnings. I will say publicly now that I’m not as bullish as I have been for the last couple months. This has been a great stock run, but I’m looking for more balance now instead of straight up, and ready if the market starts to turn over. But, as always, I’ll wait for the market to tell me, I’m not going to guess when it will happen.

Unfortunately keeping taxes pegged at current levels requires sacrifices elsewhere .

The decimation of the Medicaid program will have consequences for a lot of people on the lower rung of the ladder . Thus it was always this way in America , be it access to the best healthcare , legal assistance or workplace protections.

Having a good work ethic isn’t always enough without capital .

FWIW, nearly all bills passed involved a heavy dose of what you referenced (coercion/threats/bartering). The whole "two things you never want to see made: laws and sausages" thing.....

I won’t claim to be an expert, but what I’ve seen is there has been a huge increase in able bodied single people added to the Medicare program. I know someone who looks into insurance fraud. You would be shocked at the number of Americans who constantly try to screw over the system by lying, cheating, breaking the law, etc. just to get out of working. I’d never want to take care away from someone who really needs it, but I know for a fact there are millions of people here intentionally stealing from the system. I’ll happily pay my taxes for people who need help, but not those, as AOC says, simply do not want to work.

Stocks are in an undeniable up trend, that’s all you need to know for now. Wait for stocks to roll over, then see if the trend might be changing. No reason to try to guess ahead of time, your chart will tell you. A downtrend is a series of lower lows and lower highs. Haven’t seen that in awhile.
