Try to place a Wyckoff distribution chart onto Gold Daily chart, you will see we will enter phase C shortly

How commercial trader section "hedger" still holds ~300k short positions yet still liquid.

First they have deeper capital, and there risk approach is not based on price movement only but standard deviation.
Like 1.5% chnage in Gold i'll down $1.5m, if gold rose 60% then money it is.

Roll over carry trade, Short Gold, long or short other assets, the difference in spread goes in their pocket.
Basically, losses in gold get offsets by gains in other hedges, the pay interest in one, received interest on another, the difference goes in their pocket while doing nothing.

Shorts futures loss is matched by gain of physical gold bar sales ,
Let say Trader A from bullion bank short GOld futures @ $2000. Price rose to $2400.
He lost $400/0z on futures but also able to sell physicsl gold with a $400/oz gain.
These 2 offsets each other.
Now if someone bought 1kg bullion, we always pay premium on it.
The premium goes in the bullion bank balance sheet

Finally the "capped risk" strategy

Somehow price action are more likely to follow closed bar than the newly opened one.
A closed bar meaning noises have already been absorbed, and hourly or session sentiment is shown clearly through the closed bar
