Had to come here and leave a comment. After last time i have been active on FF i think approx 5 years ago or even longer, except using calendar, today i decided to check what kind of system peoples share here in FF today. Scrolled trough few and clicked on this thread. After a while i noticed 3h has passed me reading thread from start. opened up my TV and added your indicator. I used volumes with wyckoff quite some time before i found my own way of trading few years ago. Well i had to test your indicator and grabbed couple wins without even thinking em much. Execute and 1:2 and relax.

Gotta say i love to see threads like this that wakes up even veterans to comment. Will definitely come back to this thread. Keep this alive.

Yesterdays fast test gave me a very wrong expression of the system. I got lucky if i could say i that way. I come from very different trading style, even tho i do use volume, but my system is way too complex for my 10 year old daughter, and that was mainly reason i came to forex factory to see if i could find a easy to understand yet effective way to trade and teach that to my daughter. Went to GU (dont have pictures of executions so that does not really matter.) and lost 3 in a row. Then i went to EU and 6 loosers in a row.

Market do not trend at the moment, so the situation is hard, but even EU started trend on 1m yet still failed. As far as i see on live trades. Gotta take those profits quite fast. By just watching charts with the indicator you may get wrong expression of the system. I need to find a way to filter some trades and so i could teach this system to my daughter. Start was great, real live trading so far not impressed, but i didint really even analyse. Was just executing cause i wanted to see and test what i need to fix and what are flaws of the system, but where i am impressed is that this actually got my attention. Also got a nice data and now im starting to make plan what and how i will teach this system to daughter. Will come back with actual trading results and with actual analyse before taking trade.

In image you can see a sell that was not by the rules at all. I think i took as a pullback.

What up, been here a while and i found my way with NOVA, seems like you arent trading like it the original strategy was build(me neither just sayin), before i give you some tips(if you want to ofc), how are you using nova? Bcs the trades you shown are something a lot different than what they should actually be.

That pic was just a blind trade, watching signal from Nova. Theres no trend, not in htf or even ltf so yeah, i know i was trading it poorly. Thats why im waiting till we break range and we start to see some trend.

Then i will be actually trading them like it should be traded. Was kinda just fooling around. Cause normally i trade NY session.

Oh okay, cause it seemed kinda strange to me why would u take those trades, otherwise nova is super useful, but it has some flaws which can be easily fixed, rn we are in a shit market, and nova on its own is good but rn kinda helpless, if you are just figuring it out and want rather high winrate strat, try to add some good momentum indicator like Squeeze m.i. by LazyBear, it filters out a lot of the trades, when in combo with the HTF confirmation from nova. Thats what i use and get around 75% winrate with 2:1 and BE at 1:1(But a lot less trades, i trade 6 pairs and get around 20 trades a week rn). But if u wanna live a little riskier nova and 3 ema on its own is also fine just gotta watch for the trend shifts, with that i got about 45% winrate just blindly following, but after some time with adjusting ur view u can easily get 60+ just with those two.

But im excited to finally see some life in here, if you wanna share your view or anything would be awesome just to see something done with nova.

Putting this out here so if new people come they know what can be expected from this.

Well, as promised here are some trades i took using a bit modified strategy and my own opinion.
Monday would have been real nice for nova with just emas but u never know what market you will be in so i pretty much always go with my strategy unless i see some clear beautiful trends, thats when i opt to trade without extra confluences.
Ill also show some bad trades which shouldnt have been taken but i was loosing concentration way too much yesterday and didnt notice some minor stuff

These were all by my rules with no mistakes

And now for the ones with mistakes(they worked but still i count them as bad as they were not according to my rules, only thing why i think they worked was bcs monday was hella trending so it was in my favor)

With trending markets, basically any strategy is easy. Theres not much needed to catch some nice moves. But as we all know and what i have noticed in my almost two decade forex experience markets consolidating most of the time. Like now what we see is HTF accumulation. What you showed to us are clear and beautiful examples of how powerful this strategy can be, but what you didint explain is how you use that squeeze indicator to help you and filter out some bad trades? Thats what i try to find. Filter some trades, so i can teach my daughter simple rules. I cannot start to explain her about liquidity grabs, or daily bias etc. Not yet.

So how to use the momentum with nova, the basic premise is that even tho it is a lagging indicator, we can use it to identify good pullbacks and early shifts/reversals of the market. My personal strategy goes sum like this:
Lets say a long setup
1. Identify trending pair(meaning all emas line up on 5m and 1m, 50,100 and 200)
2. Have an active Nova signal on 5m meaning blue line is above 0 and background is green(white in my case, columns dont have to cross the blue line)
3. Now we look at Momentum i., wait for a pullback (columns go from green to red, if the crosses are red or i think its black by default even better)
4. If nova gives us a valid entry(background+line above 0+ columns cross blue line) and MI shows either weakening or already crossed to upside(either weaker red color(must have red cross) or full white/green color(must have white cross) ) we enter a trade.
5. SL at recent low and TP at 2:1(BE when trade is around 1:1)

Some pointers to keep in mind
1. I use pivot points and PDH and PDL to see where price might do something stupid, when near PDL/PDH i dont trade, when at S/R i look at the reaction and trade upon it, i dont trade when in an uptrend a price is nearing Resistance and vice versa.
2. Keep in mind HH/HL and LL/LH so basically structure. Best is for longs when HH/HL are forming. Just a general rule of thumb.
3. Sometimes i use 50CCI on HTF to identify strong trends
4. I look at H4 every so often to see if nova gives a signal there, so i have more confidence in the trade direction
5. Last thing, i dont enter trades that are way too far away, meaning the price shot up or down on the signal candle
6. Always wait for bar close
(Unless mentioned otherwise, im talking always about m1 timeframe)

The way I like to enter my positions time and time again is to check nova on a higher timeframe first.

This gets you out of a whipsaw market, so for example I will look for a nova signal on the 5M/15M as my HTF if I am trading on the M1.

Once I see there is a signal in the direction of the trend on the M1 only then will I know it is safe to start jumping in.

If price has pulled back after a nova signal on my HTF I will then watch structure the LTF (M1/M5) to then keep going.

The main thing is to wait for that first pullback to the moving averages once price is starting to break previous highs/lows in your trend direction.

If the moving averages aren't fanned out and are really close to each other then I dont like to enter.

By doing this I am then able to rack up enough R:R to allow me to lose trades over time but in the long term following what I have just mentioned will keep you in profit and not worried about any losses.

Also, keep an eye on where the signal line is... if it is below the 0 level when nova is giving a signal then you buy and vice versa.

When you shared your TV template, it looks like you have an updated version with more alert options. Where could we get this one?

I was backtesting today (FX pairs, Gold, US30, and BTC) using different approaches users recommended in this thread.

I really like the idea of using Nova with the Linear regression channel indicator that @MachineLearn recommended. Since I prefer to trade mostly on the M5 timeframe, I'm using slightly different rules from them.

Entry:
1. Linear regression channel -> Dark red/orange or dark blue/green candles, preferably closing outside of bands.
2. Nova ->
- Sell signal - Green histogram closing below signal line.
- Buy signal - Red histogram closing below signal line.

These rules are not 100% set, and I will use EMA's for heavy trends to filter trades. I will continue backtesting different approaches and share my findings.

Overall, it's looking very promising. Thanks again @xkwisit!
