//Question: Hi there, I saw some of your posts in the CoT thread. It was very informative and useful. But I had question, why do you enter in low time-frames? Because I believe the CoT data suits more for more that H4 trades. Thanks //My Take: Hi there, Thanks for your kind words about my posts on the COT thread. You're right, the COT data is generally more suited for longer-term analysis, particularly on charts like the H4 or higher. However, I incorporate it into my lower timeframe trading to gain a broader market perspective. While I don't rely solely on COT data for low timeframe entries, it provides valuable context that complements my technical analysis. Specifically, using the COT data helps me: 1. Confirm or challenge signals: If I see a potential trade setup on a lower timeframe, I check the COT data to see if the positioning of commercial and large speculators supports my technical analysis. For example, if I spot a bullish pattern but the COT data shows excessive speculative long positions, I might be more cautious entering the trade. Conversely, confluence between my technical setup and the COT data increases my confidence. 2. Identify potential turning points: Significant shifts in commercial trader positioning often precede market reversals. By monitoring the COT data, I can anticipate potential changes in momentum even on lower timeframes. This doesn't necessarily mean I'll enter a trade based solely on COT data, but it alerts me to potential shifts in the market. Filter out noise: Lower timeframes are inherently noisy. The COT data helps me filter out some of that noise by providing a bigger picture view of market sentiment. This allows me to focus on higher probability setups that align with the overall market positioning. 3. Essentially, the COT data adds another layer of confluence to my decision-making process on all timeframes. It's not the primary driver for my low timeframe entries, but it's a valuable tool that helps me make more informed decisions. I use it to validate my technical analysis, anticipate potential turning points, and ultimately, improve my trading edge.
