All I see is that the "smart money" knows that the fiat currency system is in the first stages of collapse and they are hoovering up all available gold at any given price range until I has to move up for the gold at a slightly more expensive (less cheap?) price. There is no way that confidence is going to return to fiat currencies after the way the people in charge behave, and without confidence, what is there in a fiat currency? Nothing.

EDIT: but saying that, 30 minutes ago I had £500 in my account and I now have £187 so what the fuck do I know?

it only cares about any excuse to keep going upwards just pure speculative literally at current gold prices, even after adj gold for inflation u would think world war is priced in and interest rates are negative. I hope I have an open holding short position for when a longer term correction kicks in n the balls to hold it through

Long term I'm extremely bullish. I fact, I'm one of the people who sees the dollar going the way of the pound in the 1970's when the UK needed an IMF bailout. No one is coming to the USAs rescue for multiple reasons. Soon though, the XAUUSD will start looking like XAUJPY, and so will XAU<name-your-currency>. Eventually it won't even make sense to price gold in fiat currencies because they won't be worth anything

EDIT: David Hunter think there will be a sudden fall in gold of perhaps 40-60% because there is going to be such a liquidity crisis at the banks that they will have to sell so much, will will massively drive up demand for dollars. However, that isn't to be mistaken for a sign of strength. If/when that happens, it will be the "fast" part of the old Hemmingway bankruptcy quote when asked how he went bankrupt, to which he replied "Slowly at first, the quickly"
