Disliked{quote}I've found developing, debugging and testing indicators is so much quicker in mt4, eg I regularly quickly test/debug indicators in mt4 tester, either testing as indicator or ea and dropping indicators on, and recompiling on the fly to assess changes and printouts, and to run forward quickly or slowly. In mt5 I have to start/stop a full tester window setup, each time I want to make a single change, and the mt5 tester regularly loses the option to pause or change speed, and you can't load other indicators dynamically either.Ignored
Disliked{quote}I've also found the graphical chart update in mt5 is annoying, as in the chart prices will shift left on a new candle, of course, but objects and indicator buffers take a split second to update their positions, as if there's 2 separate chart update processes happening, this is besides having to use chartredraw().Ignored
Disliked{quote} Mt4 natively has timeseries indexing for the oncalc parameter arrays, and the buffers too, in mt5 this to be manually done. Mt5 is also missing the predefined timeseries arrays of Open[] High[] etc, which are handy to use outside oncalc function block, even inside oncalc the syntax highlighting is useful. You have to resort to a macro mt4 set or use the cumbersome rates copy to an array just to get a single value or timeseries iOpen() which is much more typing for something was, in mt4 a single word like High[].Ignored
Disliked{quote}The only benefit mt5 has that I've noticed with indicators is that chart histories can be much larger, as indicators calculate much faster, and I've noticed a higher object count is achievable without chart lag, but these features are not worth the numerous tradeoffs. I suppose the extra buffer styles are nice, and the market depth could be useful but it just doesn't seem to be commonly supported with brokers.Ignored
Disliked{quote}Mt5 has been out since 2009, there must be several good reasons on the users end why it hasn't taken over mt4.Ignored
