You simply do not understand ...

EURUSD is actually money being exchanged. XAUUSD is not real gold exchanged for any USD so the price can be manipulated a lot more...

I think all he wants to say is that it is speculative. But there is truth to the fact that you are not connected to the market directly but rather to your broker that mimics the markets prices although not exactly, it can be important when looking for psychological levels ( 2500 for exemple ) because from one broker to another you will tap it more or less. If you want the official price of Gold only the COMEX live chart is to be trusted i believe. For exemple on my Broker gold tapped 2505 roughly but Comex shows an ATH at 2538
