This EA file works, but it doesn't have what I need. Can you do something similar with this file? I spent a few hours looking for information on FF and the Internet. I found a lot of files but not what I needed..

Hi Frank,

I am curious why clicking on an On/Off button would make any sound at all, unless it is built into a specific indicator you are using. I click on on/off buttons all the time and don't hear anything.

Could you try, for example, the "P4L BoxFibo.mq4" indicator at the end of post #1 here? The full source is there; it's a simple on/off OBJ_BUTTON object; it makes no sound in my MT4, even though all MT4 sounds are enabled. (Or, you could just post the source for any on/off button indicator that causes the problem).

*Note, to eliminate all other explanations, I suggest testing a chart with only the one on/off indicator, and no other indicators attached.

In your MT4 *installation* folder (NOT the 'Open Data Folder' Windows AppData location), there should be a 'Sounds' folder. If you click on each file, an app like "Media Player" should play the sound.

AFAIK, a standard MT4 installation contains these files:

Is the click sound one of these files? Or, do you have any more than this list that make the click sound that you hear? If so, you could try renaming the file so it's not found by the indicator.

If it turns out that you find some specific indicator causes the click sound, and if you only have the .ex4 file, not source, then it could be that the sound file is compiled into the .ex4 as a "#resource" file, and I don't know of anything you can do to prevent the noise except what you already did, which is to disable all MT4 sounds.

Hi pips4life, thanks for touching base. There are some interesting things I discovered after I tested the things you mentioned. The indicators which has the ON/OFF buttons when loaded individually DOES NOT make any sound at all (and also your file P4L BoxFibo.mq4)! You're right! But when they were loaded into my existing template, they do make the click sound. It's strange and I don't know what is causing them to make the click sound. I've checked the programming codes of these indicators, it's not because of the programming codes that cause them to make the click sound.
The click sound produced is tick.wav. Like what you've suggested, when I rename it, the click sound disappeared!
Now I find another way around this issue. I rest my case. Thanks a lot for your valuable input.

If you have source code for all your template indicators, then likely there is a reference to the tick.wav file. Ex. 'PlaySound("tick.wav")'
You might be able to spot where the code error is that causes that sound to play. My guess would be the sound is played by a different indicator than the one with the on/off button.

Often, such errors are caused by improper coding in the OnChartEvent() section. Some are written so badly that it runs code whenever ANY event occurs, including by just moving your mouse around which generates 100's of events per second. The "fix" is always to isolate exactly which event(s) for which specific object(s) should your code do anything at all, and properly ignore all the rest.

One of the most common code errors in OnChartEvent is that it fails to account for *chart* specific settings that any indicator can change, which then could affect all other indicators on the chart. I have found some so badly written that MT4 will hang when combined with another indicator that turns on one or more of these...

The most obvious ones I know, usually enabled in OnInit():

When you click on any button, it obviously causes the event CHARTEVENT_OBJECT_CLICK to occur, but because on/off buttons often create or delete objects, then consider also CHARTEVENT_OBJECT_CREATE and CHARTEVENT_OBJECT_DELETE.

Somewhere in the code of one of your indicators is likely an event which causes the tick.wav sound to occur. I hope this helps.

Good Day coders. Please help me adjust only the arrow in this indicator such that it only changes when a currency is up for 5mins or when its down for upto 5mins. Currently the arrows are functionally un-useful as they keep moving up and down incessantly.
