I see it on the ground here in Spain where so many expat brits live.
The BJ government have thrown them under the bus.

Very simply If there is no deal then immigration and status of UK expats will be entirely at mercy of government policy with UK. Uk citizens be just aliens. This is very complex and much to do with bureaucracy involved in living in a county as an Alien and the privileges EU citizens enjoy with in all EU countries. Just take my word.. its messy. Especially for retirees.

Ok, I get that but that's surely the same with regard to any Ex-pat inevitably deemed as an alien living in any other country anywhere else in the world? It's a change for sure but not surely making it worse than elsewhere in the world (which would defintely be a 'shafting')? Or am I missing something?

Brexit was never about looking after expats. In fact if this country is ever going to get a grip on its finances and avoid a larger currency meltdown (like many others face) then it needs to address the balance of payments.... so the economy would benefit from a resurgent manufacturing policy that would require more freedom on trade, a closing down of millions extracting their life savings and living elsewhere, and halting the drain of remittances (which you won't read anywhere for some strange reason but as a guestimate must run into several billions per year.)

I am of the opinion that the UK is a myth. It has to be, otherwise we would have seen something happen by now.
