    As the United States pressed Saudi Arabia to end its oil price war with Russia, President Donald Trump gave Saudi leaders an ultimatum. In an April 2 phone call, Trump told Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman that unless the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) started cutting oil production, he would be powerless to stop lawmakers from passing legislation to withdraw U.S. troops from the kingdom, four sources familiar with the matter told Reuters. Personality dislike? Its a proper crisis and you can't deal with that by pumping out narcissistic self promotion and diversion away from ones mistakes with complete lies. I mean its a crisis with over 60k dead and he is talking about ratings on a press conference? Is it a true circus carnival for him? Or a prime time ratings game? Popularity contest? Whats to like about this ...."personality"?

Even if the Saudis are "destroying" the US oil industry, so what? Last time I checked, it's called free-market capitalism. Unprofitable, inefficient companies die, successful companies live. That's what's supposed to happen.

maybe there's a difference between $58 and $12 or $18..., if oil price would maintained $40 - 55 this would never happened. How it difficult to understand that this "consistent ally" are destroying US oil industry?
Actually oil dropped to $58 after Trump post about high oil on Twitter...

Just a few MONTHS ago, POTUS has said on his Twitter that oil prices were too high. He's named them 'inappropriate'.
The WTI price was about $57-$58/b then.
He hasn't declared, how low price level is 'appropriate'.
Now he uses all possibilities to INCREASE the price.
(IMO, crushing alliance with SA is wrong way - SA seems to be a very stable and consistent ally in Middle East)

Agree.
Anyway, oil market is not free-market
And "destroying" in US language means: you Saudis should cut production, so that WE could produce without cuts and sell at a higher price.
"Destroying" also means: demand has dropped dramatically worldwide. You, Saudis, are responsible for lower prices which our companies cann't afford.

BTW. Where are US oil companies money? I think they've EARNED money for several YEARS...

BTW2. POTUS is able to ban oil import at all. Or impose 100000% tax. Why to loose an ally?

The main reasons for the Strategic Alliance 75 years ago are vastly different today but still with very delicate balances - nuclear energy/nuclear weapons; terrorism/fake Islam/hollow history/regional crises ongoing; economic sanctions/NATO/Russia with no succession process/US wants to pay less, others more; Business for USA as rich oil countries restructure = peace required so that profits will flow.

Preserving access to Middle East oil is now much less imporant if at all. Trump will be leaving office with no meaningful lasting positive achievements here. Forgot to mention trade wars and threats of trade war. Otherwise things OK and virus is almost gone.
