CDC estimates that influenza has resulted in between 9 million – 45 million illnesses, between 140,000 – 810,000 hospitalizations and between 12,000 – 61,000 deaths annually since 2010.

Up to 60 000 deaths every year just in one country. How much can it be worldwide? 1 million dead per year from flu? Where is the media outrage about that?

Yep, more die from flu every day just in one country than from Corona in one month everywhere. More people died by slipping in the shower in january. The media is blowing this out of proportion, soon it will be forgotten and they will move on to another things...

p.s. Most of those who died were old with a weak immune system, they would die from normal flu also.

death rate is 2% for this novel virus so far-
its very early to arrive at any conclusions...

"Professor Neil Ferguson, an expert in mathematical biology at Imperial College London told reporters in London the death rate for the new strain of coronavirus is "roughly the same as for The Spanish flu epidemic, at around one in 50". The 1918 outbreak is the most severe pandemic in recent history, wiping out an estimated 50 million people across the world."

Pandemics start with new a virus which is a crucial part to the story, no one knows- but its not a made up media worry with no substance that can be compared to seasonal flu.

Thats why the markets react ,with risky assets
Don't underestimate a candle like that or where AUD could go if it develops to hurt world growth

So your "professionals" go from house to house to ask? You know, not everyone goes to the doctor with the flu...I surely don't. So its impossible to know a real number...the lower number can be the official number, people who are actually counted by visiting the doctor.

bit of a joke statement. When cases explode in India, it will impact indian IT outsourcing and 'global testers' will spread virus with speed of light throughout mainly financial institutions worldwide. many US & other institutions will cease to operate. Who is going to issue loans for new property purchases?

I expect Chinese to contain virus, and will be free of thing in month or two. This will not be the case for rest of world, unfortunately.

SO, not quite sure who will have last laugh.

The biggest threat this virus is that
you don't have to have a fever
incubation for 14 days
it is contagious during the incubation period
contamination through the eye retina
the virus live several hours without a host
fast mutation
the virus destroys the lungs, causing liver and kidney failure
weapon of mass destruction number 1
2% mortality is not true, it will be higher, China's secret because of panic

The markets are still being smoothed, nothing is happening, the flu is worse, the vaccine will soon be blabla blah. when markets register that there are not working factories in China, there will be a hum when the disease reaches Africa and Latin America, it will be armageddon.
And the United States? medical care very expensive, not expensive, very overpriced, like a boutique with expensive cloths, who will go to the doctor with a cough? a great threat to the US
