Gold went up because the ISM Manufacturing data came in weaker then expected, that combined with the fact it reached a key psychological level 1400 and also has a ton of upward potential due to global uncertanties.

Trump just announced new tarrifs on China. That is tanking the USD and with it everything related to the USD. Gold is rising and most if not all currencies related to the USD are following suit.

XAU through the roof...

I placed two sell limit @ 1415 &1420 and of course was whiped out



I took the10% capital loss myself.

Start fishing again placing the nets in the river wild stream

Up now with B limit @ 1440 with 0.1lot, 1435 with 0.2lot and 1430: 0.3.

Gold right now is tempting but remember what tonight is. The night before NFP is usually slow across most markets. There's no important data due between now and NFP either. As much as I want to look for trading opportunities in gold, I know better than to force one. I'm sitting on the sidelines unless we get something that triggers a move in gold.

As for the US employment data tomorrow, get prepared. There's two previews posted that might help with that!

  1. Nonfarm Payrolls • Friday 2.8.2019 - Insights into the data release and a personal forecast for NFP.
  2. US Employment Data - August Preview - Some key points about the releases, and charts showing recent impact to gold, eur/usd, and usd/jpy.

I might have gotten too enthusiastic there. Was a great rally nonetheless!

Looks like we're getting sucked back down into this 1410-1430 channel we've been in for the past two weeks.

My opinion:
In June 2017, Germany and Austria criticized the US senate over new sanctions against Russia that target the planned Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline from Russia to Germany.
Recently they(EU) also said: "To threaten companies from Germany, Austria and other European states with penalties on the U.S. market if they participate in natural gas projects such as Nord Stream 2 with Russia or finance them introduces a completely new and very negative quality into European-American relations." and "Europe's energy supply is a matter for Europe, and not for the United States of America."

I expect the US to announce and/or impose additional tarrifs on EU.

My personal opinion is that we will see a large surge in gold prices if this happens.

In broad details, the US share of Europe's quota on imports of hormone-free beef was made possible by concessions from Australia, Argentina, and Uruguay to take smaller shares earlier this year. Reports suggest that over time, US farmers can secure 80% (or 35k metric tons) of Europe's quota, but may begin with half as much. The fact that the US wants to "celebrate" this agreement is sending a different signal from the confrontational approach seen recently in reaction to France's proposed digital tax"

"Kudlow told reporters that a scheduled announcement on trade with the European Union at 1:45 p.m. (1745 GMT) on Trump’s daily agenda was to unveil an agreement on beef.The European Commission has stressed that any beef deal will not increase overall beef imports and that all the beef coming in would be hormone-free, in line with EU food safety rules. An agreement would need to be approved by the European parliament."

So we might be getting some good news from Trump which shouldn't provide any kind of boost for gold. Lets wait and see how this unfolds...
