Increased tensions in Straits of Hormuz will impact on Oil and Gold and on Equities.
Looks like this incident reported AFTER market close. So we may see gaps Sunday night/Monday morning.
Looks like Iranian response to Fridays news that detention of seized Iranian Tanker , for breaking EU/UK/US/UN oil embargo sanctions AGAINST SYRIA, in Gibraltar was extended for a month.

Not having a CLUE about the subject or context to a news item appear to have become a REQUIREMENT of posting a comment on these threads. So lets try to clear some things up??
For Information:
1. The UK/Gibraltar seizure is for breach of oil embargo on SYRIA. It has only of legally significance to Iran, is in that the ship (Grace 1) is IRANIAN FLAGGED*. If ship had been Liberian, Greek or Panamanian (as it until recently was) flagged, the same would have happened. Baltic Exchange lists Owners as RUSSIAN TITAN SHIPPING LINES. Traders will be aware that Russia is a supporter and ally of the current Syrian Regime. Clearly the implication is that its is a Russian owned ship trying to break the embargo?
2. The seizure of Grace 1 was actually conducted under international law, for BREACH of EU SANCTIONS in UK/EU28 waters, in response to the Syrian government’s support of international terrorism and violations against democratic and human rights in the country, under EU28 sanctions against the Syrian Regime, which were extended in May, to 2020. UK is still an EU28 Member.
3. EU sanctions currently in place against Syria include an oil embargo, restrictions on certain investments, a freeze of the assets of the Syrian central bank held in the EU, export restrictions on equipment and technology that might be used for internal repression as well as on equipment and technology for the monitoring or interception of internet or telephone communications.
4. The EU (unlike the UA) has NO oil embargo against Iran. Its in fact trying to persuade the US Administration to lift theirs. Embargo is against SYRIA, which is where the Gib seized cargo was being sent. Hence its seizure.
