My first choice is the American Eagle. It's where I live. The credibility and how easy it is to sell make it an easy choice for me. There are others I plan on buying at some point though.

Dealer recommendations are welcome too! I use Apmex. Other reputable dealers I know of are JMBullion and Provident Metals.

Merica baby! They are durable and the easiest to sell. Canadian maple leafs could actually be on top if you are very careful when storing them. They are more pure than the American Eagles so take the risk if you dare.

Other guys are just not as popular/liquid and I can't think of any pro to buying them.

I'm partial to the American Eagle. I plan on buying one for my son, he's due in November and a gold coin would make for a nice birthday gift.

Of course, the collector in me wants to buy them all.

I'm thinking of getting some more Silver American Eagle coins this weekend. Any advantage in buying 2019 1 oz Silver American Eagles (20-Coin MintDirect Tube) instead of 20 2019 1 oz Silver American Eagle BU? It doesn't make sense that it's $22 more expensive. $22 from the storage tube?

Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. I'm planning on making this purchase over the weekend. Thanks!

You're paying extra for the tube and their "special sealing process" which they claim will keep the coins in the exact condition they were when leaving the US Mint:

The mint tubes are placed on the conveyor leading into the machine and the sealing process seals both ends of each tube with tamper-evident packaging. If this tube has been opened in any way, you will know it. After the process is completed, the tube is removed from the machine and then checked to ensure the quality of the packaging meets our exacting standards. You now have a finished tube of MintDirect 2019 1 oz Silver American Eagle Coins.

Once completed, the MintDirect tubes are stored back in the vault until they are ordered by our customers. By using this process, APMEX can guarantee the coins you receive are in exactly the same condition and packaging as they were when they left the United States Mint.
Unless you're collecting these want want immaculate condition, go for the cheaper coins - their worth is still the same

That's awesome Ef5 congrats. Coins make a great gift, I just got one for my Dad on Father's Day. If you got a coin that was minted right around his birthday that would be pretty cool.

If you have a baby Midas you might even need this

The platinum American eagle is a beautiful coin and considering how low platinum is right now (lowest since 2009) my vote would be that one.
