Nights Around the Table - EU Thread
What kind of name for a thread is that anyway?
It’s a take off on the legend of “The Knights of the Round Table” found in the Arthurian Cycle of British literature. Yeah I know... corny but kinda Cool.
The “Table” in this legend was round, having no Head or Foot, and symbolizing the equality of those gathered a’rd it. While the Knights all differed in their skills, abilities, personalities and characteristics, they gathered a’rd the Table as having equal value before the King.
I like the picture of a group of traders from a’rd the World representing different cultures, languages, and skill levels all gathered a’rd a Table where we can acknowledge the obvious distinctions between our different skill levels and personalities while still recognizing the ways in which we’re all “equals.” Get them to all start discussing things of mutual interest in an environment conducive to gaining insights that help everyone move forward in chaotic and changing times, and what could be better than that?
Well, maybe charging admission and splitting the pot afterwards...

The Plan
So. Welcome to the “Nights Around the EU Table” thread.
Looking back over too many years, easily the best times I’ve ever had with friends was sitting a’rd a table somewhere loaded with good food and drink, and talking about things into the wee hours of the morning that we all felt passionately about at the time. I probably learned that from my parents who often had a few friends over and as little kids, my brother and I would hang a’rd the “grownups” in the background and feel important like we knew what they were talking about.
I’d like to think I learned some Valuable Thing back then that I could look back many years later and report as having set the course of my Life, but I honestly don’t remember ever learning anything. What does stick with me however, is that great times can be had just sitting a’rd a table with friends while pondering and pontificating on this or that.
My goal for this thread is that it can become that sort of Place. Ideally, there will always be room for someone to hang a’rd and maybe pick up some Good Stuff that helps them move forward and get into their “Goal Zone.” Others may need to ask questions. Others may even need to ask them twice… One thing I’ve learned is that for some weird reason, the Nickel drops at different rates for different folks.
If you have some good stories about when your Nickle dropped, pull up a chair and let ‘em rip. Got ambushed, beat up, and left for dead a couple times? You’re in Good Company here ((ak speaking strictly for himself at this point “Hey! Wanna see my Scars?”)). Learned a few things and managed to avoid the Trap next time a’rd tho, right? What’s that? Not really… you say it took a couple more Lumps? No worries, you’re still in Good Company… We’ll get it sorted eventually. And what’s that? Passed some guys on the road looked like they were pretty well Stuck In The Ditch? Yeah, I noticed that as well…
If that’s you, and the Nickel hasn’t dropped for you yet in this here Trading Thing, then consider sticking a’rd and see what happens. Know this. It doesn’t always drop for everybody the same way. Sometimes, it never drops, and you realize This Trading Thing just isn’t Your Thing, and it’s good to know that’s OK. If and when it does drop however, we’d all like to hear about it.
Who knows? Someday, we may need to pull up another chair and everybody scoot over a little and make some room at the Table. Needs to leave early? Got other engagements, places to be and so on? No worries, the door is always open and when you get done, come on back and we’ll pick up where we left off...

The Rules
I dislike Rules and avoid them whenever possible. When it’s not possible to avoid them, I find myself frequently bending them, or pushing them to their limit. I dislike the consequences of breaking the Rules even more tho, so I usually try to follow the Rules even while I don’t like them.
Honestly, Rules seem a little silly when you’re talking about a bunch of guys ((and girls)) sitting a’rd the Table enjoying themselves, but since you never know who else might drop in... If it helps, think of them as Table Manners in more or less descending Order of Importance.
1. We must be Nice to each other. Relatively speaking anyway...
2. We must have Fun from time to time. Time to time is most of the time for me, but not at the expense of Serious Stuff becuz Trading is Serious Stuff. Really Serious Stuff. But during breaks in the storm, let’s have some Fun while pondering Serious Stuff.
3. Two Rules are already a lot to deal with and making me nervous, so the Third Rule is no more rules.

This is primarily a EUR/USD and related issues thread with some heavy emphasis on "related". If you think it's related, it probably is.
If you decide this thread isn’t for you, then fortunately there are many others to choose from. What we won’t do here is get drawn into pointless arguments and debates over differing points of view. New Traders have it hard enough w/o getting jerked a’rd by someone else’s ego issues, and I just get weary of it. I think we all have a pretty good consensus of what we try to avoid and what runs us off from a thread, and that’s a good standard to maintain here.
I think that’s enough to get started, and anything else will Sort Out soon enough. Let’s get to it…
