Years ago , on UK TV, there was a programme mocking the Japanese programme that showed men buried up to their neck in sand whilst ants were crawling around their heads.
Now the West are making similar programmes featuring similar trials or self inflicted exposure to harm, depending on your point of view

I deleted the post because I think you sometimes don't see the humour and take things a little bit too serious.

Don't get me started on the japanese, they take things a little bit too far.
Remember Takeshi's Castle and more recently Squid Game, (I know it was fiction, but the thinking behind such a game).

I remember "Squid" from "Sponge Bob" ( grandsons favourite whilst a toddler) but "Squid game" - humans at their creative worst. But it is popular with Netflix making loads of money.
Try finding a film to watch among the plethora of dross cardboard character films where the main theme is violence. You know the plot: make a villain very nasty then the viewer doesn't mind seeing horrible things happen to the baddie. Literature giving way to the opium of violence for the mind - oops, ranting again - sorry.

The Yen did get a reprieve on the USDJPY thanks in no small part to the Non-Farm Report I imagine.
While the City Of London guys (I suppose ) loaded up on the positive swaps on offer on the GJ.

It's a Sat'dy morning in AUS so a long'un post sorry.
(those that know what's ahead hahaa, can just skip to the next post as I always assume they will do )


To new Traders I will always like to post charts showing identifiable

TARGETS

In fact George accentuated it from just a word, to a phrase LOL. He said the markets were ...
TARGETS, TARGETS, TARGETS

The maths will always fall into place, by itself, as our whole world (and universe) can be formed right inside & around maths. Without a doubt.

And then Wyckoff yrs ago showed a psychology of the markets that were also maths based & target based, on deeper examination, yet the psychology aspect was very important, to me, as it showed what TRADERS were likely to fall into - inside and around targets & maths - “important to me I mention as I believe it is TRADERS, not targets or maths, that keeps our larger market behaviour ACTIVE and price moving & rotating which we all need to show a profit - or a loss lol)

AI will of course work it all out eventually also (psychology, maths & targets I mean), once AI is programmed or enlightened to go looking for them.


The Targets to me are in essence TRADER ATTRACTORS.

Actual people (not just numbers) who then become interested at a target or going to a target (or a maths line of course).
And when actual people trade, they put real money down, and thus our markets get moving.
Which is then potential timing for “other” traders to ALSO enter the market and thus we all have the best time to trade .... definitive PRICE MOVEMENT.

Prior to any price movement, which includes of course past price activity (look left), price charts will or have already formed Structure.

That Structure can then be a guideline as to which traders (ie buyers, sellers, market makers, liquidity providers et al) could be getting ready to “show an interest”
and a new battle for directional dominance (rise or fall begins, or price will stay still & aggregate as the market waits for a balance adjustment in one direction).

From Structure lines/zones we may see attempted breakouts that may then return to Structure as a re-test and after any re-test is resolved
(only by traders - the targets & maths just watch on as always)
we may see a localised current price direction take place with a possible trade direction establish which a trader could follow.

Maths will encompass everything in our entire universe (ie ALL THE WORLD) and is quite beautifully balanced so then we could also ….
trade just the maths and be happy in our mind that price MUST eventually fall in line with the maths (over its time).

or we could also trade from one end of MAJOR chart swings (ie bottom to the top and the reverse) which many weekly swing traders will do being happy as they are to hold trades overnights in the search of (greater) pips.

then positional players such as institutions and hedge funds can use fundamental analysis to set up their major long term trades that can go from weeks to months


In the end it will be what style of trader and their own capacity or interest to hold either much longer term or shorter term trades
There is no actual singular right or wrong way to trade.


So we have had target charts shown, we have had maths charts shown, we have had structure charts shown.
We have had four hour candle charts & daily charts etc etc etc all shown.
(While we rarely anymore get positional long term trade charts shown though we used to have a few of those charts posted, but not any more for some reason).


The only thing I would rule out is LUCK (imho)
Number One, how do we define luck and what does it really even mean.
Also, therefore, how do we define random and what does it really even mean.

In the end I reckon we can only trade what suits US best as this game is honestly US vs US (imho)
(and therefore not a simplistic us vs the market).

Short-term trading just suits me best
(and session based only tho I am then missing the highly lucrative lol NY volatility session when I am asleep)
Inside any short term session trading the targets are of the same style each day I see and they get bounced around (inflection) and they get chased.
End of day review charts essentially show the same market behaviour each time (thankfully lol).

In life people will always do what suits them, and hopefully what suits them best

I think we both understand the the importance of ODD'S of reaching our Targets from our good old Race Track days

I don’t actually trade to REACH the very targets pip-perfect.
I just trade to TP (take profit).
In doing that I trade in-between two targets.
(There is always one immediately above and one below price at any point in time).

For example, say a 25 pip range is between two Targets at this juncture in the market moves.
Price leaves one target & heads for the other. (Well that is the concept lol hahaa )
I can happily then miss the first 5 pips waiting on a structure re-test or move as a confluence event for example.

And then instead of waiting for a final meander or aggregation when say the final 5 pips target is near or close,
my maths usage comes into play and shows me that the original 25 pips minus the 5p at the start and 5p at the end leaves
15p in between
which is my current day’s target, sometimes it ends up less, sometimes it ends up more, just depending on how the market is flowing that session really.
Which is essentially my money management.

While this RISK : Reward is (imho) one of many industry fantasies (?) (for me) they will advise traders to follow.
1:3 R:R - is a common one I hear about. And sounds great in principle. ie your stop loss risk is 1 unit and your TP chase result is 3 units.
Every time I guess else why have it.
AND have that R:R regardless of which session you trade in, and regardless of how the market is actually moving at the time.
Which seemed a little fanciful style of trading for me, just pure maths based I mean, without taking into account any AND particular market movement at the time.
So I don’t do that.

And which would be completely different to gambling on the horses I reckon you understand.
There, the bookies make the market (R:R) ….. and just offerpunters their own odds (based on the "aggregation of all bets they hold - like an MM/LP might )
The punter then either chooses to accept their odds (R:R) in that race - or not .

So when I played the horses I actually made my OWN market prices against the Bookies (to 80%, where THEY made their market to 117% against the punters)
And I only bet when my odds were shorter than the bookmakers (ie an overlay for me, ie higher R:R).
Sometimes I could cover up to three horses in the same race to WIN (and still make my required profit - TP).

I remember one day I had two horses that were very close in the market at MY odds - the first at 9/4 and the 2nd at 5/2.
On raceday I was able to wait and get 25/1 about my 5/2 shot, and then 5/2 about my 9/4 chance (both were 'overlays as such).
So I backed them both for a profit regardless as long as one of the two won.

The 5/2 shot led all the race and then fought hard late and stalled off the 9/4 chance in a head-bobber on the line.
The 5/2 chance I had secured 25 to one about had won.
Great horse lol. Courageous each time he raced. A great result as my original R:R was 2:5 and I received 1:25.

Also that ‘courage’ factor in the horse was something I saw with my eyes.
His flat maths data rating figures that I compiled did not show a courage characteristic or personality trait.
I started adding that later from my observations when horse playing.

And later I was keen to also learn & use my observations in TRADING these currencies.

Plenty of traders told me at one point (and posted on this thread ages ago) there was “nothing to see” on a chart - only OHLC.
Fascinating thinking I thought. Doesn’t matter, it's each to their own.

I DO think that Risk : Reward makes very good sense for maths only traders though.

They maybe don’t need to ‘see’ any market mechanics and will just use numbers & R:R to trade. Good luck to them, why not.

Resting up tomorrow now on a Sunday, and will be back on Monday and off we go again.
