its little more complex than that. it plots the price movements against the standard deviation. so its very sensitive to trend vs sideways movement. url

eur pulled stop — must learn to keep the stops after it moves to 1 ATR profits. this trade turned into a loss due to this error. loss of 5 pips as i pulled the stop as it moved below the last hourly bar. image

the market was moving sideways. CCI is not a great indicator when the market moves sideways. if you look at the market, it did bounce after i closed. i was not patient with the trade due to exhausion.

when you have a ranging situation, it does not move above the earlier hourly bar and the MA do not trend. ie 5>9>20 and vice versa for shorts. the proof of the pudding is in the eating

i dont use the indicators for entry. I use ATR to see how much potential is there per bar. CCI is used to validate the direction just in case. infact, my trades will be similar to Woodies ZLR except that i use the MA to determine trend and pullback ...
