The 2019-20 Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO) confirms the budget remains on track to return to surplus in 2019-20. The Government is making investments to strengthen the economy for all Australians while staying the course with considered, disciplined, and responsible economic and fiscal management. The Government remains committed to securing the nation’s finances. In 2018-19, the Commonwealth budget returned to balance for the first time in 11 years and, in 2019-20, the budget is expected to return to surplus.
