  • Iran seizes ship with Filipino crew for alleged fuel smuggling in Gulf

    Iran’s coast guard has seized a foreign tugboat suspected of smuggling fuel in the Gulf and detained its 12 Filipino crew members, state television reported on Saturday. It said the tugboat was carrying nearly 284,000 liters of diesel. The report did not say what national flag the vessel was flying. Iran, which has some of the world’s cheapest fuel due to heavy state subsidies, has been fighting rampant fuel smuggling overland to neighboring countries and by sea to Gulf Arab states. It has frequently seized boats it says are being used for smuggling fuel in the Gulf. The incidents come at a time of tensions ... (full story)

why do you say this?! it's not this like you are saying, most Iranians don't hate Arabs, those who you are saying are the current regime and a few radical religious man not real Iranian people, current regime is just not the enemy of Arabian countries but also is the enemy of its people, the most Arab and west world and especially USA Politicians know this reality, Iranian people and current regime are not the same,
10milions of Iran population are Arabs. i love them, Abadan, Ahwaz and whole Khuzestan and they are also interested in iran country( iran country is not current regime), this interest and love is two-sided. Persian,Arabs,Kourd and Tourk hate this current regime but love Iran. the problem of the whole world and Iranian people is current regime not Iran country.
but about "PERSIAN GULF", it's a historical reality, no one can deny it, not only you but also no one or no country in this world can't change the realities of the history. bring us only a map in history books in the throughout world that it's called "gulf and not "PERSIAN GULF". I WILL GLAD OF SEEING THIS MAP OR ANOTHER HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS if you have.

Names of lands and towns and waters change. Before there was a Persia and Persian Gulf it was Babylon. Perhaps we could call it the Babylonian Gulf. Or, we could go even further back and call it something else. Maybe we could take away its name altogether and say, 'the waters next to Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and U.A.E.

But none of that really matters as this is a 'Trading' Forum, not a 'Political Discussion' Forum.

If this is a common occurrence(seizure of fuel carrying ships), then this piece of news will have little to no effect on the oil and fuel markets. If the Iranians seize ships from major countries like USA , UK, and other EU countries the price will be much more destabilized.

I appreciate your desire to maintain a name that has meaning to you. My point was that names mean very little over time. For example, can you point to Persia on a current world map? It no longer exists under that name because at least some of its people wanted it changed(among other reasons).

In any case, I still fail to see how this kind of discussion has any bearing on how a trade is placed or managed, which is the direct point of the posting of the article and indeed the entire forum...

gulf?!!!!!!!!!! are you okey? based on which historical documents you call it gulf? in all historical documents it has only and only ONE NAME, "PERSIAN GULF", but unfortunately you all love Arab's money, most Iranian have problems to this regime and refuse them as their real government, but that doesn't make you use opportunity and with getting much money from Arabs to deny historical realities
