that just an algorithmic spike to clear stop losses, it has nothing to do with intervention or trend reversal, the yen weakness is supported by fundamentals.

it reads more like desperation imo, price was already above 1990's resistance, yep that's right 1990. Lets see, but it's still just the same song and dance.

It can go up, but I don't like putting my money at resistance. Longer term it will come down to feed any longs. The next rate hike from BoJ seems to be at November, six months after June's 0.25% hike....until then intervention might happen but they could say "I Warned you!"

Rising rates would be devastating for their companies. That is a longer story, to make it short: at negative or close to 0 rates, for company funding only bank margins/swaps matters. It was easy to get huge cheap money from banks. Their focus is to make the money flow. Western companies: to make profits. At higher rates, cost of that funding matters. Making big money flowing back and forth is much harder at high rates.
