You're spot on! /6Js, where the "s" may have been the hang up, was meant to be the plural of "/6J"

My expectation was that /6J was the accepted standard as that is what is listed on the CME for the yen e-mini. (similar to how traders know the /es = futures for SPX, /nq for NDX, etc)

The CME, lists the globex code as /6jxx (xx suffix, of course, denotes contract month/year as you indicated), but nearly all of the volume in yen futures trades in the "front month" (in this case U6 or U26) so I figured that suffix was self-explanatory

Undoubtedly various names for contract expirations but liquidity is nil for most.

Your details certainly help those newer to futures though, so I applaud the fact that you offered an explanation vs just spewing a 1-liner like "don't be so confusing" (or similar), as those types of responses help no one.

Currency futures avoid confusion about the issue of orientation. How much USD does a unit of the currency buy?

Don't have to think tricky inverse, especially with bid/ask.

The alternative is to confuse beginner traders, not helped by rookie commentators, who say things like "You do realize that UJ is at record high right?"

Yeah, I often need to remind myself that sarcasm doesn't come through very well via type....in addition to the fact that English isn't everyone's first language (so idioms, sarcasm, etc aren't always seen for what they are intended to be)
