They're not doing intervention an hour before the market close, because that's stupid. More likely the intervention will happen next week. Japan always does intervention once the damn Fed is out of the picture.

I'd say it'll happen before 165 is hit.

In the admittedly unlikely event of joint Fed/BOJ coordinated action, bulls will get decapitated and smoked. And they won't be able to claim they weren't warned. Japan is a strategic US ally, and global geopolitics is tilting towards hardball. Japanese mil buildup needs a strong domestic economy, and it's in US and allies' interests for this to happen.

US Treasury yields are still sitting at recent highs, and everyone is buying and holding USD. JPY is chained to US bonds; a BoJ intervention could happen, but it will be a total waste of Japanese reserves because unless the market starts buying bonds to push yields down, USD/JPY will just snap right back up after any intervention attempt
