Vice President JD Vance on Monday said after the U.S. and Iran struck a preliminary deal that there are “a lot” of details that remain to be ironed out, but he expressed confidence that America has “all the cards” in subsequent talks. The agreement reached Sunday would extend the U.S.-Iran ceasefire for 60 days and set up a framework for future negotiations about Tehran’s nuclear program and other key issues. Considering the rationale for starting the war in the first place, the "deal" is a nothingburger. Opening the SoH? Hey, it was open fine before Iran was attacked. Regime change? lol, yeah right. Iran's nuclear future? Watch and learn. There will be nothing different than what was in the JPCOA. Removal of Iran's highly enriched uranium? Pending further negotiations. I won't be surprised if the "nuclear dust" issue is just swept under the rug.

The main thing was to allow the USA to exit, declare "victory", and get the price of oil down. Get the oil/NG/NH3/ helium etc moving out of the Gulf states again.

But I dont believe for a second that they did not game this war and concluded with high certainty that it would end like this - it was obvious from the start, this war would not end well - the strait card was played earlier in Bab-El-Mandeb and it was a huge problem.... hubris much? sure, but murikan empire is sophisticated, shrewd and strategic - or else it would not have survived as top dog for so long.

2 scenarios:

A) Iran actually laid a trap
B) murika was looking to pull out, but wanted to do it through war and have its bases destroyed while inflicting damage on the region as much as possible

A combination of both is probably the most likely

The key thing is getting the Uranium count and making sure Iran never has a chance to develop nuclear weapons, EVER!! This is the ultimate goal. Oil is nothing. China has a higher demand for oil than United States. So not getting the oil price down will hurt China than United States. China is a net exporter so it either runs a loss exporting to the world or raise the price, either way it benefits United States and the West since everybody is importing from United States nowadays. But nuclear weapons, that's a problem, a BIG problem as it's a major destabilizer for not just the Middle East and the European region but for the world and it's a major existential threat for especially the West. Iran CANNOT HAVE NUCLEAR WEAPONS!! If Iran refuses to co-operate with United States and the West on the issue of uranium and nuclear weapons, then it needs to be taken out like Iraq. If Trump is not able to do it during his time in office, then the next President will have to carry on.
