Well previous demands were Donbass...Now that Putin is seemingly taking off the gloves and allowing more devastating missile and drone strikes (in and around kiev), telling NGO they may not be safe in the city, preparing another offensive, among other recently technical gained advantages....They may demand more.

Yes they need to get to the table and
Surrend... I can understand wanting to maintain some dignity in the process.

There is no need to surrender, just re-write the constitutions to make Ukraine a neutral country and Ukraine might exist in 100 years - there might even be agreement to make the new incorporated regions into dual administration were both Russia and Ukraine can have influence, Russia dont need more land, it just dont want otanstan on its borders!

That would be very nice but the bitterness towards russia from the bureaucrats would never allow this. Zel in this open letter tries to make a point that "Your war has permanently set Ukraine and Russia apart."

Geopolitical formulas and interest may of course shift in the future

This same episode happened in Georgia early 2000s, Russia used ethnic differences Ossetia and sliced a piece of Georgia and recognized it, armed it and used it as a bargaining chip - Continue this road and Ossetia will be gone forever - Georgian authorities understood this and arrested the PM at that time who managed to flee to Ukraine and repeat the same show until he was arrested again in Georgia more recently and is facing trial - the point is, bureaucrats in Ukraine are not ideologues, they would rather stay in power than not, they will compromise - Ukrainians in Europe are about to be kicked out once their usefulness is over and the blame for the war will be on the bureaucrats, not Russia.

Dragging kids and men in the streets and sending them to the front line to never return was not the actions of Russia or Putin, but the corrupted bureaucrats in Ukraine and they would face the music once this is all over - this is why all of them have bought penthouses outside Ukraine from the looted money, because they all plan to flee!

I followed the war closely before our region was set on fire, after that, I stopped following it - but my understanding this war is not popular in Ukraine and the people are pissed having their country being used as a batting ram for imperial ambitions against their Russian brothers.
