    China and the United States have agreed to expand agricultural trade through tariff reductions ​and tackle non-tariff barriers and market access issues, China’s commerce ministry said on Saturday after this week’s summit in Beijing. The agreements are “preliminary” and will be “finalised as soon as possible,” the ministry said following U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit. China’s farm imports from the U.S. still face an additional 10% levy after last ​year’s rounds of tit-for-tat tariffs sharply curtailed trade, which fell 65.7% year-on-year to $8.4 billion ​in 2025, according to U.S. Department of ... USDCNH shot up and probably drove the whole USD rally on Friday, so evidently they are loading up on USD to spend. They probably won't buy as much as what Trump hopes.

China have a huge vault stashed with USD notes due to trade-deficit with many countries around the world, especially smaller nations who depends on Chinese imports of various gadgets - these smaller nations are much more subverted and tend to conduct most of their trade in USD, additional to energy trade. It could be digital dollars instead of physical ones though.

But DXY have been on a parabolic climb whole week actually and the opposing currencies have been nose-diving, like Euro and GBP, including USD against the Yen.

But China does benefit from weaker yen against the dollar, allowing murikan companies cheaper products while off-loading their production surplus. China have diversified soy-bean supplies for its huge pig farms, they started importing from Brazil and Argentina at the onset of the trade war earlier and I doubt they would cut Brazil out now that they are the main-supplier (BRICS) while Argentine's share is probably something that can be dialed down.

Yes they've already found another supplier other than the US so that's why I say they will buy less than what Trump hopes.

They usually recycle dollars into treasuries and with the rally in USDCNH on Friday I suspect they bought dollars due to something Trump and Xi decided upon. USDCNH had declined every day in May then suddenly jumped on Friday, so something changed.
