    President Donald Trump said Monday he will move to suspend the federal tax on gasoline to help Americans shoulder surging fuel prices caused by the Iran war. The president cannot suspend the federal tax on his own. Congress would have to approve the move. Lawmakers from both parties have pushed for a gas-tax suspension, saying it would provide much-needed relief for families and businesses that rely on their cars and trucks to get to work and school and run everyday errands. they consume more then they extract - they also require different oil blends to keep their refineries functioning, at current extraction levels, murika have around 17 years before ALL DISCOVERED AND REPORTED wells are dry - hence why we have this fake climate scam agenda, because rest of the wells are either in Asia or Euro-Asia - which murika dont control, like Russia, Iran, Iraq, central Asia etc.

I heard that the US can't use all the oil it produces because it's too thin for the old machines, so it exports the thin and imports imports the thick. Not sure why they don't update the machines.

Right, these machines are specialized for specific oils - while these machines are expensive, murika can certainly afford to build 100s of these instead of spending 200 billions waging a 50 day war that have made this situation much worst and provide terrible ROI - The world domination game is over, washington is just delaying the inevitable by mere few years and isolating itself further...

have you seen the USD share of world transactions? its trajectory have been down since 2017 when BRICS started seriously challenging it, accelerated further since 2022 and keep nose-diving!

washington have only couple more years to sustain current military spending at current levels and instead of building up murika, they are wasting the money!

The US is a net exporter but they do import oil and oil products. Besides, they need the money from the exports and want to expand their markets in oil and especially gas, and that will obviously all end if they just decide to let their customers dry. If you can trust a supplier people will move on.

the question was if they capped exports, obviously prices would not rise because there would be oversupply inside the US in theory and if we exclude that they need to import some types of oil and oil products.

The US is a net importer of *crude oil*, but is a net exporter of *oil and petroleum products* (gasoline, jet fuel, etc.)

It has an important connection. No matter whether you are a net exporter of energy productions or not , oil is priced internationally thus, the company that extract and refinery the oil tend to sell it in highest possible price to make the most of revenue from it.
It may be another story, if you have a responsible government that is well prepared in advance for such very volatile situation ( and not create it by itself ) intervene in the domestic market to play with it its oil reserves accumulated and stored when the market was quite and low and sell it for the benefit of public and economy and thus keeping inflation low within preset FED target.

This is called a responsible government.

The tax is only $0.18 a gallon and it goes to repairing America's shitty roads. So now my gas will be 3.5% cheaper but I need to buy a tank to get around? Art of the deal at its best!

I have a slightly better idea - GTFO of the middle east. How about trying that one for a change?
