Institutional players zoom out on the charts and see a 30 day stretch of green candles. A 0.5% pullback off highs in one day is meaningless. No one cares what the news is at that level. Sure, the HF algo trades are reading headlines, but that's not where the big money is moving things around.

If you were looking at put capital to work, a small pullback is all that you need. So things start to pump again after the algos dump it. When the algos jump on board with the pumping as well, then the pricing moves faster.

The whole thing isn't rocket science (though it's probably more complex than that), but what we scalpers/tick watchers see as 'meaningful' is of zero consequence when learning "how to trade" by looking at past charts. 20 years from now, no one is even going to know what headline moved the /es 20 pts down and then 20 pts up (0.2% each way) because it's too insignificant. The textbook MAY highlight the fact that a "90 day tariff pause" caused the largest 1-day move in the /nq (12%+), BUT that's only significant in the fact that it was the largest. Those other MASSIVE 4-7% days won't even get a mention with respect to what news item drove them that day (tariff on, tariff off, etc).

I am kind of speaking to myself here I suppose, but the intra-day stuff is most often meaningless. Just think of all the "bad news" received during this ceasefire: we will bomb again, iran mines the strait, tanker stoped, tanker bombed, refinery on fire, Iran will not stop enrichment, etc, etc....and where has the market gone since 3/31/2026? Equities are up 18-25% depending on the index. Crazy right?

First news impacted markets heavily, secondary news did not. You nor I nor anybody else on this forum knows what the truth is.
