They seized power in Iran by stealing it. They have kept in power by extortion: Let us rule or you die. That mafia knows nothing else but to exist by sucking blood. Their latest action of taxing the world 's energy is consistent with their nature as expected.
Their only problem is that the world is not so defenceless as the poor Iranian people.

There is an irony in this situation. Less oil , less fuel burnt, less carbon emissions. Clearer air and sky. Remember covid and the clear skies. True the world economy craters however life on earth gets a breather. Probably a left field comment for your own edification.

So... when price of oil goes through the roof in the coming weeks, so will the USD. Meaning, everything else is going rapidly down from precious metals, to stocks and crypto. Yields will probably go higher across the board.
There is no more TACO this time around.

/clk26 (may WTI oil) has 15 days till expiration. If you believe the above, buying some /clm26 (June) oil at $98.73 (current price) seems like the real play.

I will agree with no TACO. There may be an offramp, but who knows.

To be fair, he can't "chicken out" this time if "demands are met" because he has said that he will do this if they do that....unlike tariffs when he said 'there is nothing they can do' (and then changed his mind). In this case, it is also not so easy to "stop" a war as it is to start one.

Let's just hope infrastructure and "all energy" isn't targeted. The pain inflicted on the innocent civilians in that case would be catastrophic (inside and, if the Iranian military is to be believed, outside of Iran)

Something of note IS occurring in oil presently though: the curve is rising. By that I mean the backend (future months), which have been rising more slowly than (% wise) than the front month, as of late, are seeing a larger % move today. Now, some of that is explained by the fact that the longer-dated contracts are lower cost, so a smaller rise still means a larger %, however, if the rate of change continues to increase, the world is effectively saying we can indeed expect higher for longer oil.

To understand murikas energy security you need to look at transnational corporations operating in west-asia, their output is not only helping murika dominate the energy markets, but the profits from the wells are invested in murikan stock market, including treasury bonds.

They have him by the balls - more correctly: Iran got murikas controllers by the balls!

We Arabs had similar situation unfolding in the 1950s, it was the Suez crisis, with the jewish colony at the forefront, but back then it was UK and France backing them - Egypt destroyed the british and french empire - however, murika was ready to take their place, our occupation continued by another super power(changed UK/France to murika) but this time, there is no one else to replace murika!
