Kinross bets on more gold in Chile with US$1.5bn Lobo Marte project
Kinross submitted the environmental impact assessment (SEIA) of Chile for the Lobo Marte project for US$1.5 billion (bn), with the aim of enabling a new gold operation and moving forward with the creation of a mining district in the north of the country. The initiative considers open-pit mining of the Marte and Lobo pits sequentially, with a processing rate of around 35.000t/d and a useful life of 22 years, including 3.5 years of construction, 16 of operation, and 2 of closure.
