Judge quashes grand jury subpoenas of Fed, Jerome Powell in renovations probe
A federal judge ruled that Justice Department subpoenas of the Federal Reserve and its chair, Jerome Powell, may not be enforced, according to court filings unsealed Friday. U.S. District Judge James Boasberg quashed two subpoenas served on the Fed’s board of governors that sought records about a $2.5 billion renovation project on which Powell testified before Congress. The judge, who has come under President Trump’s fire before, pointed to “abundant evidence” that the subpoenas were part of a pressure campaign against Powell. “The case thus asks: Did prosecutors issue those subpoenas for a proper ... Hopefully China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others, that are affected by this artificial constraint, will send Ships to the area so that the Hormuz Strait will no longer be a threat by a Nation that has been totally decapitated. In the meantime, the United States will be bombing the hell out of the shoreline, and continually shooting Iranian Boats and Ships out of the water.
