Platinum market set for fourth consecutive annual deficit as tight supply supports investment case
The global platinum market is expected to remain in deficit for a fourth consecutive year in 2026, although the shortfall will narrow significantly from the historic levels seen last year, according to the World Platinum Investment Council’s latest Platinum Quarterly. The report forecasts a deficit of 240,000 ounces in 2026, following a 1.082-million-ounce shortfall in 2025, the largest deficit recorded in the series, dating back to 2013.
