The euro traded around 1.1790 on Friday, recovering modestly after the ECB kept rates unchanged and reinforced confidence in the inflation outlook. Governing Council members struck a calm tone, with Stournaras noting that euro strength has not been excessive and that exchange rates are being monitored, while Escriva noted that inflation is at target and expectations remain well anchored.

Recent data support this stance. January inflation eased to 1.7%, with core inflation slowing to 2.2%, giving the ECB room to stay patient despite ongoing global trade uncertainty. Overall messaging suggests policymakers are comfortable with current policy settings and see no urgency to react to recent euro moves.
