He could agree with Miran, or in his absence, his economic rationalism for a substantial decrease in the FFR. He would be applying economics to the situation. No politics in that.

Well, I suppose doing what you are told isn’t actually a political issue. He didn’t say he would be data dependent. So he can just lower no matter what and that’s not political, it’s just ignoring the data. If you believe the debt is a huge issue you can’t really argue against lowering rates. The ill effects of too low rates could be far less than default.
