    Good morning. I’m pleased to be here with Senior Deputy Governor Carolyn Rogers to discuss our recent policy announcement and the Bank of Canada’s Monetary Policy Report. Last week, we lowered the policy interest rate 25 basis points, bringing it to 2¼%. This was our second straight cut and reflects ongoing weakness in the economy and contained inflationary pressures. We also published our outlook for the Canadian economy. In this context, we have four main messages. First, US tariffs and trade uncertainty have weakened the Canadian economy. I have always rooted for Canada but their governing policies are not in the interest of Canadians. The "elbows up" campaign and blaming Trump's tariffs on their ongoing economic decline is the typical deflection slogan "Government is not responsible". It is actually socialist policies that ruin every nation that ever had something good. Governments are magnets for the antisocial, and criminal personalities who make sure they are the only real beneficiaries of tax dollars and policies. Sheep will instinctively follow each other off of a cliff without a rational thought first, while government will claim it is for the greater good no matter how many times it failed.
