US wants to make rare earth deals with Australia but without China involved, expert says
The United States has an appetite to strike critical minerals deals with Australia, but without involving China in the supply chain, a policy expert has said. Hayley Channer from the US Studies Centre (USSC) has described a formal meeting between Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and US President Donald Trump in Washington, DC, next week as "critical". Ms Channer said the US has been concerned about "Australian minerals always going through China".
