South Africa Consumer Price Index: August 2025
Annual consumer price inflation was 3,3% in August 2025, down from 3,5% in July 2025. The CPI decreased by 0,1% month-on-month in August 2025. The main contributors to the 3,3% annual inflation rate were housing and utilities (4,3% and contributing 1,0 percentage point) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (5,2% and contributing 0,9 of a percentage point) – see Table C and Table E. In August 2025, the annual inflation rate for: • goods was 3,1%, down from 3,2% in July 2025; and • services was 3,6%, unchanged from July 2025 – see Table A
