Canada industrial capacity utilization rates, second quarter 2025
Canadian industries operated at 79.3% of their production capacity in the second quarter, down from 79.9% in the first quarter, which was revised down slightly. Capacity utilization in the mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction sector decreased by 1.0 percentage point to 75.9% in the second quarter. This decline coincided with the decrease in oil and gas extraction activities because of forest fires and maintenance work. Capacity utilization in the electric power generation, transmission and distribution sector also decreased, going from 86.0% in the first quarter to 83.1% in the second quarter. This decline ...
