In August 2025, French consumer prices increase by 0.9% year-on-year
Over one year, according to the provisional estimate made at the end of the month, consumer prices would increase by 0.9% in August 2025, after +1.0% in July. This slight decline in inflation would be explained by the slowdown in service prices, particularly transport prices. Conversely, energy prices would decrease at a less sustained pace than in the previous month, driven by those of petroleum products. Food and tobacco prices would increase at the same pace as in July, and those of manufactured goods would decrease at a very slightly faster pace than in the previous month.
