Don, soybeans ain't hard to find. Neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium, and terbium, on the other hand, are quite rare. (They are rare earth metals, if you didn't know.) China has >90% of the refined capacity of all of those, plus big shares of some more, like lanthanum and cerium. Don Soy Boy, did you know it's damn hard to make the following without these Chinese metals?:

- nickel-metal hydride batteries
- high-end optical glass
- petroleum cracking catalysts
- specialized phosphors, used in LEDs and other lighting
- the best permanent magnets
- the best high-power infrared lasers
- some of the best safety glass
- the best lightweight alloys used in aircraft engines
...and so on

Most of the refined Chinese rare earth metals sell for $thousands per ounce. US soybeans go for $9.67 a bushel. That works out to exactly $0.01 per ounce.

China has a substantial trade SURPLUS with the USA.

I would suggest that if you don't know the difference between a trade deficit and a trade surplus, you probably shouldn't be making trade policy.

yes agree only buy what they need beyond what Brazil can supply. China has been working on becoming less reliant on the US for the last 10 years

That started long ago in Trumps first term. The US lost a lot of export quota for soybeans to Brazil since then. And i bet they will continue to lose more with the new tariffs.

Soybeans plowed back into the ground.

Stock Mkt is lame in Brazil righ now, since our "beloved" Lula is lost in this tax war w/ Mr Orange Man + our internal basic interest tax is on the moon sitting in obscene 15%yearly. Of course one of the few sectors in Brazil I'm buying is AGROINDUSTRY, specifically those related to the Chinese market... and of course Bonds... impossible to ignore extremly low risk 15% yearly

Idiot doesn't remember he had to spend $12 billion to bailout soy farmers back in 2018 due to his tariffs yikes with China. Soy bean farmers were letting beans just rot on the field because it wasn't worth harvesting.

Yes, but the Brazilians have pumped supply, causing issues. However, this is a negotiation tactic. He is essentially telling the Chinese what he wants, and the Chinese will do it, but maybe say, double. This is exactly how its been done previously. Don't really care, soy is for manbun types, but this is the pattern.

I really like how president Trump can reverse the basic meaning of words describing real situation "they gona pay", "china deficit" - really a very good example of narcissistic behavior to be studied. Maybe I will loose some money on forex but most of psychology scientists has undesputed chance to study NPD disorder in natural environment.
