No question, there should not be numbers THAT far off. I (we?) said the same thing about the huge revision on last year's numbers though. How/why so much emphasis is still placed on jobs data when the reporting has been highly suspect is beyond me, but I do understand it is a key economic indicator.

I think the push, however, should be less about "fake data" to manipulate one way or another, and more about "we want ACCURATE data".

Let's put this into perspective. Either...
a) Trump believes the numbers were previously RIGHT and these revisions are wrong (so the economy is strong) or,
B) he believes there should have been no need for revision and the correct numbers should have been reported the first time (weak numbers would have seen negative market reactions earlier.....and he would have had to blame the office for putting out "bad" numbers during prior releases).

Either way, it looks bad during Trump's term.

Now, however, if you ever see a bad print (with a Trump appointee), you can be certain that the numbers are REALLY BAD.

Hard to trust data if you cannot trust the source.

Only 462k revisions down this year, but on par with Biden.
They were wrong to upside under Biden and Trump.
The birth and death of companies seem the most abused element, but it's all a made-up number regardless.
It's a government-produced statistic that's mostly overestimated recently.

I agree - people in high office, whether it be President, or the Senate, or Congress, whatever, don't pretend to understand the complexities/nuances, and rely totally on expert advisors for guidance.

I guess my point, poorly made, was that these clever guys have forsaken all what they know and good in pursuit of mammon. You mention integrity - that would be great, but sadly, not here.

I have read a few things they have written to justify their stance and trust me, they are clutching at straws to reach the conclusions they do. That is putting it nicely. They get some really basic stuff quite wrong, but couch it in what appears to be serious and well regarded analysis. Clever tactic.

I am very disappointed, as are economists all over the world, but I imagine particularly those with an affiliation to Harvard.

Over a long term (say over the past 12 months), the labor number have to level out and be correct. In any given month, the numbers can be distorted either up or down. In the several months leading up to the 2024 election, the number were faked larger to support Kamala. Now these distortions must be corrected to bring the last 12 months into balance. Take away your Trump Derangement Syndrome and admit the truth.

Yep, the US has major issues. But where the US goes, the world goes.

I think it's an accountability problem first, greed second, and lastly an intelligence issue.

White collar criminals will look at numbers and immediately know that those can be manipulated. I am pretty sure most card carrying members that can prove they're US citizens think the entire political system is rigged by white collar criminals.

Greed is a morality issue and since the US has given up on religion, morality is in a freefall state.

And when did the US just give up on real education? Most universities are worthless...I can't imagine what parents feel when they drop their daughter off at a campus.

NFP revisions were not impactful bc they were not big revisions except the April report (may 2). Which was a big revision down.

Other than that, everything seems normal. It's just Trump making excuses to place his men in power and take over the institutions. Erdogan style.

I hope Trump doesn't ruin our beloved NFP data and turn it into a useless survey that has zero impact on the markets.

Yes, that is all good, BUT - let me throw this in. To think about, calmly.

The "problem" is, that Trump may be kinda right, whether he knows it or not.

Unemployment and inflation statistics actually significantly lag what is really happening, that is, real growth. Think - for example, in the real world, employers can be reluctant to put off staff despite business going downhill for a period of time. Same with prices - they are often well known to be "sticky", in both directions.

So by the time bad numbers come out, as Trump says, it may already be too late. I have no idea of what is correct, I am just throwing this out there.

Because I am confused because recent US GDP numbers have been reasonably good, unlike some other countries, eg, Germany. Crossing fingers there is not a big back adjustment going back a few months! It happens, you know.....

And the broad range of polls are rigged too (?), as they show the lowest rating ("ever in history" ?) for a president`s first 7 months. Give him a medal of honor. Soon he will beat Nixon too (Watergate). But he shrugg it off as they are all lefty polls, right ? Wonder if he can rigg the Congress and Senate election next year...?

Most colleges are bad, they are run by extremists who value indoctrination over education. However, if you do your research there are a decent number of well run colleges still. Unfortunately it’s $150k for the least expensive option for a 4 year degree.
