    US President Donald Trump on Tuesday (Jun 17) said Japan was being "tough" in trade talks and the European Union had not yet offered what he considered a fair deal, as a team led by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stayed at the G7 meeting in Canada to keep working on trade issues after Trump's abrupt early departure. Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One that the EU would need to offer Washington "a good deal" or face higher tariffs. Good point .

The UK has been clamouring for a deal with the US since Brexit , under different governments and prime ministers .

It was a political scoop and PR stunt for both parties , observed by the haste to complete leading to the lack of foresight re :steel tariffs ( which I mentioned at the time) , later amended by the US -the UK got a waiver .

The UK / US relationship is well known ( they’re using our airbases to assist Israel ) , it was mutually beneficial for both hence no leverage required from the UK . The UK , London in particular being the laundering capital of the world , advertising “if we can’t clean it here, use one of our many jurisdictions “

Surprisingly the supply/demand chain can’t keep up with the pace , hence providing a lot of leverage .
